On the 23rd of January 2008 Ian's mother tragically passed away from oesophageal cancer at the age of just 58.  2011 marked the 3rd anniversary of her passing and in her memory he decided to start an annual fund raising event to raise awareness of this disease.

On 21st -23rd of January 2011 he ran 3 marathons in 3 days on a treadmill at Heathrow Airport in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support and the Oesophageal Patients Association raising a total of 4717.04.

This year he wants to push himself to the limit and is taking part in a number of indurance activities that will challenge him both physically and mentally to raise funding and awareness of the OPA.
